Aix-en-Provence, France
Available April to October

Aix-en-Provence is a wonderful Provençal town, known for being the home of Cézanne. While visiting this area, why not experience it by taking a cooking class with a talented and passionate Frenchman, born and raised in Marseille? He learned to cook through his mother and both of his grandmothers. You will meet in Aix-en-Provence and will then be led through the market to choose the fresh ingredients for your cooking class, which takes place in his countryside home with an organic garden. A delicious way to spend a day!

This is a day to experience Provence by delving into its foods and cuisine and by creating typical dishes from this area.

You will meet at a central meeting point at 9:30am and then, together with your instructor, you will walk to the food market in the old town. By meeting some of the local food producers with your host, you will get the inside look at the people of Provence and how they live their life. At the food market, you will help select the best ingredients available for your cooking lesson.

Onto the family home where your hands-on lesson takes place, but first, why not stop at a wine chateau and perhaps even a local goat cheese farm for a short visit? After arriving to the house your host will show you around as you marvel at his organic garden. Then into the kitchen where you learn some recipes that have been perfected over the years by your instructor, who, by the way is not only talented in the kitchen but also possesses a fun and very welcoming personality.

Your lesson will last about 2 hours and then to the table to enjoy the masterpieces that have been created.

After lunch you will be taken back to Aix-en-Provence through the scenic Montaiguet Forest. Your experience will end around 3:30pm.

THE FLAVOURS OF TUSCANY

"Dear Jo-Ann - We just had the most amazing week. It was everything we could have hoped for and more. We are already planning a "make your own pasta party" at our house to introduce friends to the very unique flavours we tried and made! Jo-Ann, the others who came through Active Gourmet - Ed, Cathy and Kelly were all very complimentary about the service they had received from you, as were we. I was hugely impressed with your immediate attention to every detail and I will certainly recommend friends to your website if they are considering similar trips to ours." - Joneen and Ray S., Auckland, New Zealand
