(Option: Customized Itineraries)
Versailles, France - 3 or 4 nights
Available year round - Wednesday to Saturday or Sunday

In Versailles you will get right into the heart of the French way of life. “Haute cuisine” was invented in Versailles during the reign of Louis XIV, who wanted to appreciate the real taste of good quality produce. During your stay, our chef, whose cooking workshop is located in Versailles’ historic food market, will give you two hands-on cooking classes where you will have fun learning how to make some delicious French recipes, pastries and main dishes.

Within walking distance to your accommodation, we will arrange for you to visit some iconic places on the Versailles estate: Louis XIV’s palace, the Petit Trianon and the Grand Trianon.

Follow our advice and extend your stay by an extra day to have time to discover the magnificent Fontainebleau and Vaux-le-Vicomte castles, both classified *** in the Michelin guide and just one hour away from Versailles.

A private shuttle will pick you up from Paris or the airport to take you to Versailles. Arrival time is between 12pm-3pm. Once you have settled into your comfortable guest house in the center of Versailles, go and enjoy lunch in the market square before visiting the Sun King’s palace. Your audio-guided visit will take you round the grand state apartments, the famous hall of mirrors and the King’s bedchamber; all the sumptuous rooms that have made Versailles famous.

Then continue your visit by exploring the magnificent gardens of the palace. You will be blown away by the vision of Louis XIV who aspired to showcase the palace, the gardens and the grounds equally.

 DAY TWO - THURSDAY

COOKING CLASS AND PALACE TOUR

After a delicious French breakfast served in your B&B you will walk to our cooking classroom right on Versailles' historic market square. Our chef will show you how to whip up some mouth-watering French pastries. Vanilla mille-feuilles, chocolate opera cake, Parisian macarons, strawberry cream cake, rum baba…our local head chef will walk you through one of her tantalizing secret recipes, sharing her top tips and ensuring you leave with a recipe in English to delight your friends back home!

After lunch, you will reach the palace for an exciting tour led in English by a speaker of the palace. Louis XV, great-grandson of Louis XIV, followed by Louis XVI wished to have private quarters at Versailles. During this superb tour, through rooms inaccessible to public, you will discover pure gems of the Rococo Louis XV's style. You will also visit the library where Benjamin Franklin met Louis XVI in 1778 to formalize the French support to the American Revolutionary War.

Dinner in one of Versailles' restaurants. Overnight in your comfortable B&B.

DAY THREE - FRIDAY

MARKET VISIT

Breakfast served in your B&B.

Today is market day in Versailles! Our chef will take guests to meet her favorite suppliers. Expect a whirlwind of colors, flavors and delicious treats! At the end of the market tour, back to the kitchen where our chef will walk you through making a classic French lunch (main dish + dessert). You will be working with the produce you bought from the market. Guests will be taught in English as they learn to put together a succulent lunch to enjoy with the chef at the end of class (3 hrs).

In the afternoon, our 18th Century specialist guide will meet you at the Grand Trianon. The sublime Grand Trianon palace was built by Louis XIV for his family. The Grand Trianon is remarkably elegant; light, lightness, marble and flower gardens come together to create a world of enchanting charm. The interiors have been refurnished in Napoleonic style, given that the emperor particularly enjoyed staying in this palace. In the second half of the afternoon you are free to visit the charming Petit Trianon and Queen Marie-Antoinette’s hamlet. Here you will find a completely different decor, which is feminine and delicate.

Dinner in one of Versailles' restaurants.

A TASTE OF PERU FOR FOODIES

"Thank you so much for organising what turned out to be the holiday of a lifetime. Everything was first class from the luxury accommodation and transportation to our fantastic tour guides and spectacular excursions. While we went without a true understanding of Peruvian cuisine, we were blown away by the variety and quality of the produce and techniques used in the restaurants selected for us. We are already looking on the website for our next destination!" - Brenda A. and Lynne A., Glasgow, Scotland
