(Option: Day Cooking Classes, Yoga Classes)
Tuscany, Italy - 4 or 7 nights
Available April to October - Saturday to Saturday

If you are looking for breathtaking views of the Tuscan hillside, a tranquil environment in which to relax and "take it all in", a traditional Tuscan property with beautifully decorated rooms, hiking and cooking classes with the option of adding some yoga classes, look no further! This program features sightseeing to some of the area's most interesting places, hands on cooking classes with an entertaining and professional chef, wine tours and tastings including one led by your gracious English speaking host and a guided hike with a picnic lunch. Choose from a 4 or 7 night itinerary. Already have accommodation in Tuscany? You can also have a hands on cooking class. This tour has it all!

Welcome to bella Italia! Arrival on your own to the property between 4pm and 6pm. Get settled into your home for the week and relax before enjoying an aperitif with your fabulous hosts with a short briefing about the schedule for your stay.

Your hosts will share with you the history about your surroundings and welcome you the Italian way.

Dinner on your own this evening, perhaps down in the village at a typical local restaurant or to a nearby restaurant within walking distance.

Day Two - SUNDAY

Today you will enjoy a 4 hour sightseeing tour with your host: Montalcino, San Quirico d'Orcia, Pienza

This will be followed by a special wine tour with one of your hosts, lasting about 2 hours. This wine tasting is at a small wine producer from Montalcino. You will be tasting 3 wines (Rosso and Brunello), Grappa from Brunello, DOP extravirgin olive oil. Gianluca, the owner, will introduce you to the wine world explaining the production and aging of his wine.

You will be tasting a Red Wine from Montalcino and 2 Brunellos. You will also be tasting products from the farm and home made recipes by Mirella, Gianluca’s mother: home-made focaccia bread with rosmarin, home made focaccia bread with zucchini, “Bruschette al pomodoro” home made toasted bread with tomatoes from the vegetable garden and extra virgin olive oil DOP produced by the farm, half-seasoned and seasoned Pecorino-cheese, home made salami from cattle raised on the farm (to die for!), home made ham from cattle raised on the farm (same as above), home-made “Capocollo” (ham from the part around the neck of the animal) from cattle raised on the farm. Well, it is almost like a dinner, without fruit, cake and coffee!

Dinner on your own this evening.

Day Three - MONDAY

Today is another sightseeing tour with a cheese and wine tasting with the tour being led by one of your hosts. (available every day of the week with the exception of Tuesdays and Fridays as cheese production is taking place). Pick up and drop off at your accommodation. The tour lasts from about 12noon to 5pm.

Your hosts buy their cheeses from this small cheese producer who is one of the best of the area with an offer of 30 different types of cheeses, 1000 sheep and 220 h land. It is a family-run business. We will taste 8 different cheeses as well as ricotta-cheese with  bread, wine and..some water as well!

The above “cheese experience” is followed by the visit to a little Tuscan jewel, Bagno Vignoni, a 15 minute drive away. The main square of the village is a large thermal bath dating back to Roman times. Since Etruscan and Roman times the bath was attended by major personalities during the centuries such as Pope Pius II, Saint Catherine of Siena, Lorenzo The Magnificent and many artists who elected the village as a main holiday resort. The main feature of Bagno Vignoni, besides its thermal waters, is its structure which has remained essentially unchanged since Middle Ages. Not to be missed!

The above is followed by a visit to a wine producer and great friend who is in the area around Montalcino. The wine is organic and very special. We will visit the cellar and will be introduced to a world of fine wine tasting: Brunello, Baby Brunello and a ..Super super-Tuscan. You will love it!

Dinner on your own this evening.

Day Four - TUESDAY

Today you will enjoy a morning hike around 10am with a picnic with your host, either from the doorstep of your accommodation or with a drive to the place from where we hike (depending on the weather and what you might prefer). You will be finished around 2pm.

This is followed by an organice hands on cooking class with the chef around 4:30pm. What better place than Tuscany to learn to cook some authentically delicious dishes? The cuisine has always represented and continues to represent one of the most important aspects of the Italian culture. Your holiday could be an ideal occasion to enter into hands on contact with this tradition, learning its secrets and experimenting for yourself. Cooking classes will be held on-site and you will learn to cook tasty, healthy food using the freshest organic ingredients from our own vegetable garden and savor the results, washed down with delicious red wine! You will cook traditional Tuscan and Italian recipes: fresh pasta, stuffed ravioli, the perfect risotto, 'arrosti' (roasted meat), hearty salads and delectable desserts. All our menus can be vegetarian friendly and entirely vegetarian cooking classes are also available.

Buon Appetito!

For those on the four night tour, breakfast and departure at 10am.

If staying on for the weekly schedule today will be a free day to visit Siena on your own.

This will be followed by a guided wine tasting at your accommodation around 6pm. Welcome wine lovers! A journey into the world  of fine wine tasting and much more! The selected wines are from Montalcino and the Sienese area: The Brunello di Montalcino, the lighter-styled Rosso di Montalcino, the Vernaccia white wine and sparkling Pinot Noir from San Gimignano, the Chianti Colli Senesi. During the tasting we will lead you so that you can fully appreciate the wines’ taste and feel. You will learn to appreciate:  the color (from a translucent cherry to a deep ruby red with granat reflections or a shade of purplish red, straw yellow with golden nuances, golden yellow …), aromas and flavors (of blackberry, black cherry, black raspberry, chocolate, tobacco and leather, violets, the Mediterranean bush in the July sun,…), the bouquet (referring  to smells generated as a result of aging; smells found particularly in mature aged wines), the taste - the “body of the wine” (the sense of its weight on your palate: full, soft, velvety and intense).

Dinner is on your own this evening.

Today is another wonderful wine tour and tasting led by your host begnining around 2pm. You will be situated in the heart of winemaking, amidst wine cellars of great repute. This is the homeland of  Brunello which is exclusively produced from San Giovese Grosso vines (100%). A ruby color, a typical scent and a dry, elegant and velvety taste lingering on the palate stand as its major, successful features. Here you will also find, amongst others, the Rosso di Montalcino and the Super-Tuscans. Fine wines are in abundance. Some 120 estates produce over 3.5 million bottles. Through the years your hosts have become friends with some of the most interesting wine producers of the area who produce wine of excellent quality at a fair price. It is thanks to them that they are now able to introduce their guests to a world of fine wine tasting. You will be finished around 6pm.

Dinner on your own this evening.
