Le Marche, Italy - 7 nights
Available March to June, September to November - Saturday to Saturday

Discover the secret of Italy. When you visit Le Marche you will inevitably be struck by the wonderful bucolic landscape, the rich cultural heritage, the historic architecture and the quality of the local produce. But we would like to help you get under Le Marche’s skin, meeting local artisans and experiencing the true rural life. Stay in a beautiful country home in a quiet setting, go on a truffle hunt, take cooking classes and get to know this region like a local.

The economy of the region has traditionally been based on agriculture and the fantastic products made by local artisans. Most of these artisans work for small family businesses that have handed down skills from one generation to the next, many still work by hand and, despite the demands of the global marketplace, there is still relatively little mechanization.

With the help of friends who were born and raised in the area, and who are extremely passionate about nature and the traditional Le Marche way of life we are pleased to offer you the following excursion that will allow you to experience and better understand why life here has remained unchanged for centuries.

Your guide for the week has always appreciated “the sweet breath of the earth.” On his father’s farm they specialize in the production of old varieties of apples such as the Mela Rosa dei Monti Sibillini, presenting to the Slow Food movement in Turin and receiving some of the best national gastronomic reviews. A graduate of the University of Macerata, your host has had the good fortune to know and work with many influential thought leaders on the Slow Food Movement and frontrunners in Italian gastronomy and tourism. He has also been featured in Italy on “Feast with Heston Blumenthal” on Channel 4.

Your accommodaiton for the week is a beautiful country house situated near Ascoli Piceno, in the Sibillini Area. The home is located in the magic truffle area, cuddled by the sweet hills of the Marche Region. It is immersed in the utmost quietness where total privacy is guaranteed, in a scenic location 30 minutes away from both the sea and the National Sibillini Park. Offering a restaurant only for guests, a swimming pool and Jacuzzi and free WiFi.

Ascoli Piceno is a city of pre-historic origin whose origin date to the neo- eneolithic age. The first settlement was established by people coming from the mediterranean. According to the ancient Latin poets the city was founded by the Sabini after a ritual migration called primavera sacra. They were guided by a woodpecker - a bird sacred to Mars - and for this reason they were called Piceni.

A TASTE OF PERU FOR FOODIES

"Thank you so much for organising what turned out to be the holiday of a lifetime. Everything was first class from the luxury accommodation and transportation to our fantastic tour guides and spectacular excursions. While we went without a true understanding of Peruvian cuisine, we were blown away by the variety and quality of the produce and techniques used in the restaurants selected for us. We are already looking on the website for our next destination!" - Brenda A. and Lynne A., Glasgow, Scotland
