Welcome to Sicily!
Upon your arrival to Palermo airport you will be met and transferred by private car to a wonderful olive estate in the western part of Sicily.
Accommodation in your reserved room at the olive estate. Meet the owner for a guided tour from the oil mill and through the orchard. The former owners were a noble family and were amongst the most powerful figures of the Italian Socio-political panorama from XIIIth to the XIXth century. You will visit the Laboratorio dell’Olio and will taste different vintages of the famous olive oil.
Dinner included and overnight stay.
Day Two - EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL AND COOKING CLASS
Breakfast at the farm. Today you will have a cooking class with the owner of the olive estate.
Enjoy your lunch in a wonderful garden. During the afternoon you will visit on your own Selinunte Park, the biggest archeological park in Sicily.
Return and overnight stay. Dinner on your own this evening either at the olive estate or a local trattoria.
Day Three - SEGESTA, ERICE, SALT PANS AND MARSALA WINES!
Breakfast at the farm. Pick up by your English speaking driver guide and transfer to Marsala to admire the Salt Road and its Salt Pans located on the coastline between the cities of Trapani and Marsala. Locals extract the salt from the seawater following the same procedure used by the ancient Greeks and Phoenicians who once colonized this part of the Sicily. Once extracted from the water and dried, the salt is heaped into mounds and covered in tiles—just like the ones used on our roofs—so the rain won’t melt the salt before it’s packed.
Then visit a winery to taste the famous Marsala Wine. During the afternoon you will visit Erice, a wonderful and mysterious medieval town perched on a hilltop at 2000 feet with sweeping vistas of the western Mediterranean Sea. Walking through the cobblestoned streets you will smell a variety of aromas emanating from the numerous pastry shops for which Erice is famous, and see the Norman Castle and the Duomo. Then you will stop at the world famous Pastry shop by Maria Grammatico (Book: Bitter Almonds, by Mary Simeti) to taste her almond sweets, Genovesi and nougat while toasting with a glass of Marsala wine. Lunch on your own and free time.
Then a visit to Segesta to admire the Greek temple and the theater on your own. As the major Greek city in western Sicily, ancient Segesta was besieged and conquered by Dionysius and Agathocles, and eventually fell to the Romans. Here you willl see this beautiful Doric temple, dating from the fifth century B.C., perched on a hill of wild fennel. Although never completed, it is in an excellent state of preservation, and commands a majestic setting from its position.
Return to the farm and overnight stay. Dinner on your own tonight either at the olive estate of a local trattoria.
DAY FOUR - PLANETA WINES & SICILIAN POTTERY
In the morning you will visit the famous Planeta winery, one of the most beautiful wineries in all of Sicily located in Sambuca di Sicilia in the Valle del Belice. You will have a wine tasting served with typical products followed by lunch.
Time at leisure to visit Sciacca, the town of Sicilian Pottery.
Arrive at your lovely bed and breakfast where we suggest having dinner. Overnight stay.
DAY FIVE - COOKING CLASS AND VALLEY OF THE TEMPLES
Breakfast is followed by a hands on cooking class with a vibrant and talented up and coming chef, the owner of this beautifully renovated bed and breakfast, who has loads of personality. More importantly he is a talented professional serving up creative and incredible dishes. He uses the surrounding local ingredients, fresh and simple, coming up with some divine delicacies. Lunch is included.
During the afternoon leave for Agrigento to visit the beautiful Valley of the Temples, one of the most representative sites of Greek civilization in the Mediterranean area. Return and overnight stay. Dinner on your own.
DAY SIX - REGALEALI WINES

You will see foods you have never seen before! Then a short stroll home to savour the hidden beauty of Palermo, one of the most intriguing and mysterious cities of the Mediterranean. The walk will take you past the Baroque magnificence of the Quattro Canti along via Alloro to the luxuriant exuberance of Piazza Marina garden and the austere majesty of the Norman palazzo Chiaramonte.
