(Options: Customized Itineraries)
Languedoc, France - 6 nights
Available April to November (excluding August) - Sunday to Saturday

Join a native Languedocienne on a culinary journey in this little known corner of southern France, nestled between the Camargue region to the east and the French Catalonian Pyrenees to the southwest. Your hostess was part of the original group who started the Food Network and was a producer of a restaurant program and some other related series. You will discover this singular historic region rich in traditions, art, architecture and culture and meet some remarkable personalities and spirited characters, from local chefs and winemakers to artists and artisans, all of whom are passionate about their craft and their land.

You will experience hands-on cooking classes, exclusive winery tours and tastings, shopping at local food markets and, of course, remarkable meals. You will stay in an elegant bed and breakfast with newly renovated en-suite bedrooms in the center of a lovely typical Languedocien village with a peaceful large garden and pool, and several hiking trails along the village and along the Canal du Midi.

The cooking classes will focus on traditional and innovative regional cuisine with an emphasis on local produce.

The six night program combines the best this region has to offer. It is designed as an insider’s guide to the vibrant markets, oyster and spectacular seafood, and olive oil and cheese producers. The program includes five hands-on cooking classes, as well as tastings of the traditional charcuterie and cheeses, and, of course, visits to wineries. You will also enjoy dining out in local bistros and fine establishments, and meet winemakers, in between sightseeing and shopping.

Georganna, California

"Our cooking vacation was amazing. Every meal, both those we cooked and those eaten out were over the top. Anne took such great care of us both teaching us some French cooking and introducing us to Langeudoc. We highly recommend her program."

Karen, California

"I can't express enough how wonderful our Immersion in Languedoc was. It was the highlight of our trip. Anne was incredible. She went well beyond what I was expecting. The accommodations were excellent. The food both what we cooked and what we ate out were fabulous. The marketing, touring, local wines and everything else made for an extraordinary experience.  I can't thank you enough for arranging the experience. I hope to be able to take advantage of Active Gourmet programs in the future and have already passed your name to others."

Gail, New York

"Just last night as we were preparing baby artichokes, we discussed what a difference you have made in the ways we work in the kitchen together.  Among many reasons, we're more adventurous and happy working side by side."

Glenn, Schenectady, New York

"Integrating all of these ambitious recipes into elaborate dinners, in the beautiful courtyard garden was the pinnacle of graciousness of the French countryside. I cannot praise Anne’s skill sufficiently in providing a comprehensive exposure to this area and all of its attributes, her sensitivity as hostess of a small group and providing a new and wider appreciation of the French lifestyle in the country."

Robert, California

"During my visit to the Languedoc last summer I was lucky to have Anne as hostess and guide. Not only did she share her deep understanding of local wine and food, she showed me that I too, could recreate the flavors of the area on my own. We visited local markets and ate at various locales and then we cooked meals using our purchases. Anne has a special touch that makes you feel welcome. I can't wait to go back!"

"It was an absolutely marvelous week. The accommodations were superb. I loved the course, the host, and the Chambre d'Hote which is a lovely country house equipped with everything one could possibly need. I was incredibly pleased to when dealing with AGH. All in all, a fantastic experience that I hope to be able to repeat, perhaps in Italy next time." Anita D., Encinitas, California
