Uzès, France - Sunday to Sunday
(Option: Day Cooking Classes/Market Visit)
Available April through October

Check out our fabulous week long culinary program featuring 5 days of intensive cooking classes, foodie visits and accommodation in a beautiful guesthouse in a medieval village in the Languedoc Roussillon! This is for the true foodie who wants to learn about French cuisine from a professional French chef with more than 30 years experience. The hands on lessons are taught in English. Or, if you are only in the area for a day and looking for a fun experience, join us for a taste of Provencal and Mediterranean cuisine at the cooking school for a market visit and cooking class, a cheese and wine pairing course, a dessert class, or a fish and seafood class. If you have a small group, we can arrange a private cooking class.

Attention food lovers: our week long culinary program gives you the opportunity to partake in a 5-day French cuisine experience, in a beautiful medieval city. All levels are welcome. The focus for the classes will be on Mediterranean and Provençale cuisines.

You will spend the 5 days of classes together not only cooking but also visiting local farms, tasting wine, cheese & olive oil, but also visiting local markets. See a sample itinerary below.

For our non residential cooking classes: Classes are small (usually between 5-7) so you get a lot of attention from your chef. In our French market class we take you through the local markets where you will select with the chef the freshest in-season ingredients to return to class and prepare your 3-4 course meal accompanied with local cheeses and wines. If you want to learn more about handling and preparing fish, why not try the Fish & Seafood class where you will learn various techniques and recipes to try at home. You can also participate in a cheese & wine pairing class upon request which is taught by a Sommelier.

During April through October, we offer the French market class 3 days a week and a seafood class once a week. Off-season classes will be held only on Wednesdays or as a private class upon request.

FRENCH MARKET CLASS (Available Tuesdays and Wednesdays - 5 hours)

The French market is a very important part of French life. So visiting a local market is a necessary part of learning about French cuisine. Depending on which day you will have your class, you will meet your chef at one of the local markets where you will meet the local producers, learn about selecting the best produce, meat and fish and then decide on a menu together based on what is in season.

Then onto the cooking shcool where you will prepare a 3 course meal from scratch (an appetizer, main course and dessert). You will also enjoy a delicious cheese course as well as wonderful wines to accompany your meal.

CHEESE AND WINE CLASS (Available upon request - 2 hours)

This class in on request and is guided by a sommelier. In France, a meal is not complete without a cheese course so cheeses are taken very seriously here. There are an incredible amount of cheeses in France (over 350!) so in this class you will taste some of the finest while learning how to pair wines with certain cheeses. Your sommelier will educate you about cheese selection and pairing the right wines with the right cheeses all in a relaxed and informative atmosphere.

FISH CLASS (5 hours)

You will meet your chef directly at the cooking school for this class where you will learn how to prepare many of the popular Mediterranean and Provencal seafood dishes including squid salad and Bouillabaisse. You will learn how to handle the fish, filet the fish, make a typical seafood stock as well as learning about making sauces to accompany several fish dishes.

After class, sit down and enjoy your creations, finishing off with a delicious dessert that you will help create, and sipping some Provencal wines.

HOMESTYLE TUSCAN COOKING

Hi Jo-Ann - We wanted to let you know that we had an AMAZING time at the cooking school. My mother and I could not have had a better time. Paola and Simonetta were such wonderful hosts and teachers. We were treated like family. The house and property were beautiful. The hands-on cooking classes were so much fun...we learned so many great recipes that I cannot wait to test on my friends back home. I will definitely be recommending this experience to all of my friends and colleagues. Thank you so much for all of your help in setting up this once-in-a-lifetime dream vacation. It is something neither one of us will ever forget!
