Tuscany, Italy - 5 nights

Come to Tuscany to learn traditional family recipes from native instructors who have been teaching hands-on cooking lessons for over 20 years. Aside from improving your culinary skills and bringing some fabulous recipes back home, you will learn the beautiful Italian language with daily private instruction in the home. This is truly an authentic experience where you will stay in a true Tuscan home and this vacation comes highly recommended by everyone who has participated.

 

Enjoy the delights of fine Italian cuisine and wines to share the love for living that the Italians are famous for. Your instructors follow traditional family recipes using fresh and organic ingredients, preparing a complete meal with appetizer, pasta dish, vegetable and meat dish and dessert, accompanied by the wines which best complement the meal.  

 

 

The kitchen is in a typical 13th century Italian farmhouse in the Chianti countryside in Tuscany with terracotta floors and chestnut beams. It has been lovingly restored by the family, one of the oldest noble families in Italy. There is an organic garden, vines, olive trees, roses, oleanders, geraniums, spices, fruit trees and other typical plants of the area. 

 

 

 

FIVE NIGHT ITINERARY

 

Day One

 

Today you will arrive at 6:00 pm at the Montevarchi Train Station, from Florence. (Or, if you are renting a vehicle, you can arrive at the home at 6pm)

 

Transfer by private car from the train station to your home for the week.

 

Tonight is a time to get used to your surroundings, meet the other guests and enjoy a wonderful welcome dinner.

 

Day Two

 

Breakfast with the family is followed by your first hands on cooking class with your instructors. You will prepare 4 or 5 different recipes and enjoy each as you have lunch together. We eat our recipes and taste the accompanying wine. Following lunch, you will have your first Italian language lesson.

 

This afternoon is free for relaxing with a good book in the garden or in front of the fire during wintertime or walking around discovering the area.

 

Dinner your home for the week.

 

Day Three

 

Breakfast with the family followed by your second hands on cooking class.  Lunch follows with a second Italian language lesson. 

 

In the afternoon you will have a guided excursion to the Chianti area, visiting a winery and some and some beautiful sites and maybe with the chance to shop a little bit!

 

Dinner at home, talking about Italian culture with your hosts.

 

Day Four

 

Breakfast with the family. Today is your third hands on cooking class where you will prepare some more traditional recipes. Lunch together followed by your third Italian language lesson.

 

Free afternoon - take a rest, go for a walk, explore the area.

 

Enjoy another delicious dinner at home.

 

 

Day Five

 

Breakfast with the family followed by your fourth hands on cooking class, followed by lunch and your final Italian language lesson.

 

Today you will have a guided excursion, where you will learn about the culture and do some shopping.

 

Dinner at home and enjoying all the memories of your great week in Italy.

 

 

Day Six

 

Breakfast with the family. Today is your last hands on cooking class with a good bye lunch before connecting to your train to Florence.

 

Transfer by private car to Montevarchi Train Station.

A minimum of 1 participant is required to run this tour and the tour is limited to a maximum of 10 participants.

 

 

HOW TO ARRIVE

 

Closest Airports/Train Stations:

 

Florence Vespucci Airport about 60 Km - 1 hour and 20 minute drive
Other airports:
Pisa Airport - 2 hour drive
Leonardo da Vinci (Rome) Airport - 3 hour drive 
Malpensa (Milan) Airport - 4 hour drive

Florence SMN - Nearest train station (fast connection to Rome, Milan, Venice, Naples, etc.) about 57 Km - 1 hour and 15 minute drive 

If flying into Rome or Milan, we suggest taking a train to Florence.



**Transfer can be organized from Pisa or Florence airport with an extra charge that would be paid directly to the taxi driver (we can book it in advance). The cost is approximately 170€ (2 persons)

 

**We can also arrange from Rome airport, but it is quite expensive, about 300€. We suggest catching a flight or a train to Florence and we can organize a transfer from Florence.
